I have finally started my blog! Letting that sink in.
After years of procrastination and waiting for the right moment (which never comes), I have gathered the courage to start this. You could ask me what brought about this sudden change. To be honest, it was a spur of the moment decision (like most in my life), taken while watching the gorgeous Meryl Streep and Amy Adams in the movie “Julie & Julia”. Somewhere along the way, like numerous viewers I hope, I felt inspired and took the step. I could not be happier.
I submitted my PhD thesis exactly a week back, so with spare time in my hands ( or as I should say, nothing much to do at the moment), I felt a change was necessary.
Let me also introduce myself as you might be thinking by now. My name is Purba Banerjee and I am from the beautiful and vibrant country of India. I am a graduating PhD student in Mathematical Finance at IISc, Bangalore, India.
Apart from my love for maths and finance, I am drawn to dancing, food (basically eating), reading, travelling, movies, sketching and music. I have been trained in an Indian classical dance form called Bharatnatyam and Rabindra Nritya, which is a dance form based on the Nobel laureate, Rabindra Tagore’s songs, from the age of four to fourteen. I still continue to perform occasionally and enjoy dancing alone in my room to my heart’s fullest!
I began this blog to write articles on finance, trying to make it more accessible for the general audience with a background in basic high-school math and sometimes for the people who enjoy stochastic calculus. I also plan to write about food and places to eat in and out of India, share some of my travel stories as I explore new places for food, conferences and just to meet new people and learn their culture.
Well, that’s about it for now. I hope you enjoy reading this blog as much as I enjoy sharing it with you.
Until next time,
Purba!
